We took a REALLY long break from maintaining this blog. We've been on a rough journey through my mom's terminal illness and passing and all that goes with that. We have not relaxed our interest in the environment, of course, but we are exploring new ways to direct our energies.
We have decided to retire this blog, but our efforts on behalf of the environment will continue to be mentioned in both of my other blogs: Phedocia's Soapbox and Arden Arcade.
Green Floyd is going to move to a new home. We're looking for one where his gift for explaining his role as a member of an indicator species will reach as many children and other listeners as possible.
Orville Rat will continue to scurry about, watching for litterbugs and setting them straight.

- I am what is known in academia as a "Family Scientist", retired from full time Domestic Management, now "finding myself" as I enter the next season of life. ... The nest has been empty since 2004. Daughter is doing graphic design in Oakland and San Francisco; Son is a paramedic in Montana. Hubby retired from the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation in January 2009 & is our new Domestic Manager, seeing how long his hair will grow, and bonding with the cat who adopted us in April 2010.
